A PICTURE IS WORTH THREE WORDS!

Google image screen shot  You’ve heard the saying, “A picture is worth a thousand words.”  But when it comes to using online images you don’t own… a picture may be worth three words: “cease and desist.”   If you’re in the media, you may relate.  You’re on deadline and you need a picture for the story you’re writing, reporting or posting on your website.   So you Google it, and like magic, you find a great image.  But in this digital age, trying to figure out if you can use that photo or image for free or who you need to give credit to can be confusing.   Here are five tips on what to consider before you use a photo or online image: bit.ly/18jSD7T

Creative Commons and stock.xchng  are two sites that have many free stock images that simplify figuring out who owns the photo and who to give a courtesy credit to.
